Supporting what is currently underway

Supporting what is currently underway

Preserve what helps you, adjust your pace and find a way to continue that remains possible.

Starting a process is sometimes an important step. However, what follows may require something else: finding a pace that takes into account reality, available resources, and changes that occur.

Continuing doesn't necessarily mean doing more, nor maintaining the exact same pace. This tool invites you to look at what's already working, what motivates or slows you down, the support available, and the adjustments that could make the next steps more accessible.

🍃 A landmark before continuing

Continuity does not require a constant rhythm. A rhythm can change. A break may be necessary. A way of doing things can be modified. The goal is not to maintain the movement at all costs, but to find what remains possible and relevant for you.

1

Let's look at what is already possible

Identify a recent action, advance, or learning experience

It's easy to focus on what remains to be done and forget what has already been accomplished. Take a moment to identify an action taken, a step completed, a difficulty overcome, or something you have learned.

Example"I sent the email I'd been putting off. I also discovered that preparing a few sentences in advance helps me get started."
2

Identifying what motivates me or slows me down

Understanding what influences my energy and availability

Several factors can make a process easier or more difficult to pursue. These can include fatigue, expectations, context, lack of information, loneliness, or simply a change in circumstances.

Which of these elements are present at the moment?

3

Finding a rhythm that remains possible

Plan a way to continue when resources change

The same objective can sometimes be pursued in several ways. Rather than thinking in terms of all or nothing, imagine two ways to proceed depending on the resources you have available.

🌤️ When I have more resources

What I could do when the time, energy, or conditions are favorable.

🌱 When my resources are limited

A smaller, different or simpler version remains possible.

4

Identify my support network

Identify what can support what follows without doing everything for me.

Some processes become more accessible when you have a point of support. This can be a person, a piece of information, a reminder, a place, a tool, or a way of organizing yourself.

Example"I can ask a trusted person to let me know that I'm going to take this step, without asking them to do it for me."
5

Choose my next adjustment

Transforming this reflection into a simple and realistic decision

You don't need to plan everything that follows. Simply choose what you want to adjust now: your pace, your approach, your support, or the next step.

A modest adjustment may suffice. It doesn't need to solve everything.

To continue can also mean to adjust

An approach doesn't need to follow a perfectly regular path to be meaningful. A pause, a change of pace, or a different way of doing things can sometimes provide useful information about what's possible in your situation.

The important thing is not to maintain the same pace at all costs, but to be able to look ahead and choose what remains possible for you.
